April 5, 2020 – Palm Sunday
WELCOME – Welcome to our first virtual worship service at AMCC. Whether you are worshipping at home alone or with your family, we hope you will experience a sense of connection with other AMCC members, our extended family, and online visitors as they worship with you.
We are grateful to our Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Dr. Peter B. Doghramji, for leading us in our worship today, as well as our readers and the combined AMCC choir and CYF Ensemble.
PREPARING for WORSHIP – Whether using your computer, tablet, or smart phone, we suggest that you find a quiet, comfortable space in your home that allows you to be fully present in the spirit of worship.
Before you begin, please take a moment to read some tips on how to best navigate our interactive program format:
As you follow the Order of Worship below, you will see portions that are video- or audio-taped, read silently or aloud together, or offer a time for quiet reflection or prayer. You can go at your own pace (and you can go back watch any of the video segments again).
To access the videos and audios, click on the hyperlink next to the program listing. Make sure your sound is turned on and the volume high enough for you to hear well. You may wish to click the full screen icon for better viewing. When the video ends, close the video screen to return to the Order of Worship.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we acknowledge and confess our manifold sins, which we have committed against you, by thought, word, and deed, and by which we have offended against thy holy laws, and have merited thy condemnation, in the world and in the world to come. We earnestly repent and are heartily sorry for these, our transgressions. Trusting in thy grace and goodness, manifested in Christ Jesus, our Lord, we ask of you pardon and peace, and strength to lead a new and righteous life, by the power of thy holy spirit, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Beth′phage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find an ass tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me. 3 If any one says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and he will send them immediately.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 “Tell the daughter of Zion,
Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble, and mounted on an ass,
and on a colt, the foal of an ass.”
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; 7 they brought the ass and the colt, and put their garments on them, and he sat thereon. 8 Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee.”
Affirmation of Faith – Apostles’ Creed (read silently or aloud):
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Offering – Although AMCC is closed until further notice, the church continues to have expenses. Members and friends may continue to give their pledges and other donations by mailing a check to the church or by giving online through the AMCC website athttps://www.amccpa.org/give/.We appreciate your generosity at this time.
